Turnbull is a team player - Nelson

OPPOSITION Leader Brendan Nelson says he is unperturbed that Malcolm Turnbull has refused to rule out a leadership challenge.

When asked today if he was concerned about the treasury spokesmen's latest refusal to rule out a challenge, Dr Nelson replied: "No, of course not." Dr Nelson said the Coalition was working hard together. "We are a team, we're working very hard to make sure that the government is kept up to the plate," he said."We've already commenced the process of developing policies for the alternative government of Australia and every one of us is determined to make sure that the government delivers on the expectations that it set." Dr Nelson said Mr Turnbull was doing a terrific job keeping Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan awake at night. "It's obvious even in the relatively early days of the government Mr Swan is struggling being the treasurer of Australia," he said. .

Wisconsin Sports Spectacular

I haven't seen many Pro Bowl trip packages to Hawaii advertised by travel agents lately. That's because they don't really exist. Every time I have seen the Pro Bowl, there are a lot of empty seats. It's just not a good game for the reasons mentioned above. That's why there isn't any juice to it, and then you take the star power out of it? That really makes it irrelevant. I think that they should just name the team, and not bother with playing the game. Name the players that made the team, give them their bonus checks and move on. The game is pointless for the players and the fans. There isn't an AP All-American game for the college players as far as I know. So the system of just naming the Pro Bowlers and not actually having a Pro Bowl would be a lot like that. If they are going to keep the game, there are 2 things I think they should do to improve it.

Defiant Alexander insists: I won't go

Ms Alexander insisted she would not step down or follow the example of former work and pensions secretary Peter Hain, who left the UK Cabinet after being referred to the police for failing to declare £103,000 of donations. If the fiscal pursues the case and she is found guilty, she may have to pay a fine of up to £5,000 and her career as an MSP – not just party leader – would be in tatters.Ms Alexander said that she had received erroneous advice from Scottish Parliament standards committee clerks on 8 November, informing her that she did not have to declare the donations as gifts. But a former Scottish Parliament standards committee chairman, Lib Dem MSP Mike Rumbles, suggested she might have already been in the wrong. He said yesterday that Ms Alexander asked for advice from the clerks about the donations, received between August and September last year, after the 30-day period in which she should have declared them.

Car Rental Costs Going Up March 1st

Mobile's latest annexation means car rental rates will go up starting March 1st. Last month, the City Council voted unanimously to annex all of the Mobile Regional Airport's land, extending the city limits west to Snow Road. The higher city sales tax takes effect March 1. The sales tax rate for businesses on airport property will increase from 7.5 percent to 9 percent, while the sales tax rate for businesses in the newest portions of the police jurisdiction -- which stretches three miles beyond the airport -- will rise from 5.5 percent to 7.5 percent. City officials estimate the city will receive an extra $1 million a year from the sales tax bump at the airport. If businesses have any questions, please contact the City of Mobile at 251.208.7462. .

Families weigh cost of getting to grandma’s house

Diane Perry and her children are going to grandmother's house for Thanksgiving. However, instead of traveling over the river and through the woods, they will drive from Londonderry to Logan International Airport and then fly to Sarasota, Fla.It's a variation on the classic song that pulls much harder on Perry's purse."I wouldn't do it if it weren't for the fact that my mother is so old and she hasn't met my youngest yet," she said. "It's not getting any cheaper, and I'd hate to think that finances kept (Sarah) from ever meeting her grandmother."Regardless of the high price of travel, AAA estimates that 38.7 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this holiday weekend. Historically, Thanksgiving is the holiday with the greatest number of travelers, no matter how expensive it is, public affairs spokesman Pat Moody said."There is a lot of tradition and family gatherings that are going to happen — regardless of gas prices," he said. That's somewhat the case for Steve Rodrick of Hampstead.

Abandoned properties costly to city

It begins to weaken the housing market," she said. However, solving the problem requires resources and gaining state input and aid is a goal of the study."It is not a cheap thing to do," Garber said."Communities are struggling to find the resources. This is to assist Rebuild Ohio in putting a policy agenda before the state. This is how the state could help these communities. Hopefully, there could be a change in state law or policy or redirection to focus on helping vacant and abandoned policy."The tragedy hung over Sunday church services throughout the region, from the university's home in DeKalb on Chicago's western exurban edge, to Elk Grove Village, where the gunman grew up, to blue-collar Cicero bordering Chicago.Investigators still haven't determined what set off 27-year-old shooter Steven Kazmierczak, who opened fire during a science lecture with a shotgun and pistols, then committed suicide.Kazmierczak grew up northwest of Chicago, in Elk Grove Village, and played saxophone in the school band.
